If Marlboro Had a Slogan, What Would It Be?

What six words scream Marlboro for you?

Last week, Aberdeen Township landed on their community slogan, "Our community, our neighborhood, our town."

The township looked to Matawan Regional High School students, looking for a slogan that captures the heart and soul of the community using between two and six words.

Submissions were reviewed by the Aberdeen Business Council, and final recommendations were made to the township council before naming a winner.

Last year, Colts Neck Township adopted its new slogan, "Enjoy the Experience," which is featured on its local business brochures and maps and in partnership with business owners, local government and schools.

If you had to choose a two to six-word slogan for Marlboro Township, what would it be?

Does anyone have a positive one? Maybe something historical, something about our great volunteers?

Kaitlyn, live here long enough and your perceptions change, just like the town has in the past 30 years.

Isn't it amazing that all of the comments are negative? Unbelievable. I guess people really don't like the way things are running in Marlboro. What a shame!!

Maybe everyone should take a moment and see the beautiful day outside, and take another moment to breathe. Passing by a perfect stranger on a day like today, I said "How you doing?" He said "I'm still on this side of the grass!" PERFECT attitude!

Its hard to come up with a slogan because there are two Marlboro Townships. The center of town is where all the wealthy folk live and they typically are the ones who have the time and money to hold elective office. The other Marlboro is the perimeter of the Town. These are the areas where the Centrists dump billboards, COAH housing, cell towers, useless strip malls and anything else you wouldn't want in your backyard.

No wonder there is so much cynicism in this forum.

Don't forget about the 40,000 square foot hindu temple opening this weekend on my tiny little 2 lane street with no curbs. They expect 10,000 people, elephants, and helicopters. Really??? it would not have been approved in "other" Marlboro. I guess that's what I get for restoring a 150 year old farmhouse and not tearing it down like they wanted to do. Another blow to the residents....

The reason, IMHO, that it is difficult to come up with a slogan the way other towns have is due to the fact that many people have fallen victim to the current regime leading marlboro. A mayor who supports a lawsuit happy individual for BOE despite his lack of support to save the township over $50,000 to move the election to November because he didn't want to make it political...the same team who supported his law partner/councilman larocca for his attempt to become county chairman by placing a robocall to support a known racist for a county committee seat to try to secure another vote for this bid. Rising fees, increased water rates despite promises to maintain stability, questionable ethical behavior by council members, and the list goes on. It's no wonder that a "positive" 6 word slogan is non-existent.

Don't forget about the 40,000 square foot hindu temple opening this weekend. Great point this has flown under the radar hmmm. No one is allowed to say a peep how this will cause traffic, congestion, house values and demographic issues. Why was this allowed and where did the money come from for this?

The only thing flying under the radar this weekend will be the helicopter dropping flowers. 10,000 people, elephants and a heat wave, what a treat!

The official time that our homes will lose even more value tomorrow is 10:30 am, thats when the temple will be offically blessed with the elephants and helicopter's. I wonder if the planning board member's will be hiding in the bushes laughing at the residents as we lose everything we've worked so hard for????

As for the parking, it's only a 34,000 square foot building with a whopping 300 parking spots. And no, I'm not bitter that it cost me $30,000 for our planning board to allow me to park 2 cars in my driveway for my 1100 square foot house. Fair is fair, I'm only a long time resident, who cares about me?

On a serious note, probably won't be to bad once the hoopla is over.

Some 6 word slogans:
1. Electing law firm - higher legal fees
2. Balanced budget with water authority surplus
3. Billboards-Billboards-Billboards-and more Billboards
4. $170 per hookup - memorial street sign
5. Political aspiration gained at taxpayers expense

Wonderful Marlboro, until the NIMBY's arrived.

I said it before, you all are a bunch of complainers and whiners. You don't like the direction Marlboro has gone in, go get yourselves educated in what can and can't be done and go to meetings. I've gone to too any meetings when procedure and law is explained and people don't get it or you guys just don't show up. Complain, complain, complain.
