Marlboro Opens Kindergarten Complement Program Enrollment
It is estimated that six KCP classes will be created for the 2013-14 school year.
Marlboro's complement to its existing half-day kindergarten program is now open for registration.
The program, held at the Marlboro Early Learning Center, offers enrichment activities, as well as lunch and recess for students. The day lasts from 9:10 am to 3:40 pm, and will offer reading, math, science, social studies, music and art, according to a district news release.
Applicants will become a part of a district lottery process, which is expected to accept six classrooms of students, according to a news release.
Applications for KCP must be received no later than 4 p.m. on March 11, in order to be eligible for the lottery drawing on March 15, at 9:30 a.m. at the Marlboro Early Learning Center.
Remaining names not chosen at the lottery will be placed on a waiting list.
Tuition payable as follows:
- A $500 non-refundable deposit is due by May 1, 2013. This deposit should be paid at the time of registration. Non-receipt of payment by 4 p.m. on May 1, will result in an automatic revocation of acceptance into the program.
- Payment of $2,250 (50% of remaining tuition) is required between July 1-16, 2013. Non-receipt of payment by 4 p.m. on July 16, will result in an automatic revocation of acceptance into the program.
- Final payment of $2,250 is due between Nov. 18-Dec. 3, 2013. Payment received after 4 p.m. on Dec. 3, will result in a late fee assessment of 2%.

What about the children who do not attend this program? Will they be considered to be "behind" the others who participate? Why not just make kindergarten a full day for everyone?
