Marlboro PD Increases Patrols at all Township Schools

Patrols are especially increased as students enter and leave school buildings.

The Marlboro Township Police Department has deployed several extra officers for school security in the wake of the Newtown, CT shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Police Captain Steve Mennona said that in addition to regularly having two officers in both the middle schools and Marlboro High School, the department has increased police presence when students are regularly entering and leaving the buildings.

"We are sending a couple officers to each school to ride the beat throughout the day," Mennona added.

Current security measures at each school remain in place, including having to be buzzed into the building by each front office.

Patch is looking into daily security measures in each school and will update our main site with that information.
