Morganville Home Burglarized, Resident Looks to Community to Help Find Sentimental Items
Wendy Berk and her daughter are calling on the community to help find sentimental items which were stolen on Friday night.
Wendy Berk of Morganville said it is devastating enough to have your home burglarized, but it hurt her more that thieves took items near and dear to her heart.
Berk said she lost her husband, and on Friday night burglars broke into her Eisenhower Circle home in Morganville and removed items that not only belonged to him but had sentimental value to both Berk and her daughter Mikayla.
Berk said the break-in occurred between 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
"These items either belonged to or were given to me by my late husband and so their sentimental value is priceless," Berk said.
Berk and her daughter and looking to the community for help. She is willing to offer a reward for any items recovered.

Why do I still see police waiting on School Rd for speeders and behind the Middle School during ball games (to ticket cars) when so many houses are being burglarized! They should be patroling our streets
and neighborhoods, in clear view....detering burglars! The number of recent burglaries is just outrageous!

agreed. unfortunately, investing time in burglaries is not a source of income for the township, catching people going 5 mph over the speed limit is.

Yes burgalaries for past few months have really increased. I mean what are we paying taxes for?

How about investing in an alarm system that will deter burglaries, and showing a sign that your house is protected? Police cant patrol and stop burgulars.

Everyone here is correct. Let's get more patrols instead of having the police hide at the abandoned AVIS location and sitting on the Route 9 divider looking for speeders and jaywalkers. What a tremendous waste of resources.

I called the police once and offered to drive an old stripped down car or even my own to act as extra eyes for them. If I saw something suspicious I would call 911 and avoid any contact with the situation. When I lived in Brooklyn 20 years ago we always had people out on patrols. It helped a lot. I am retired and can even cruise around during the daytime.

I love Robert's idea! It's like a neighborhhod warch! I'm in !! This is WAY out of control and needs to stop! This story especially made me angry and so sad for this woman and her daughter. How dare they rob her of her memories!

Hey everyone! I had a short conversation with Police Capt. Steve Mennona the other day, and he said if people are willing to begin a neighborhood watch, call the Police Department and officers can try to get things set up for residents.

These comments bring up an interesting point. The police are are very helpful partners when we need them but other times they are grown men hiding behing tress trying to catch us. Why dont we start a place where we can share where they are setting up speed traps?

Pat--we actually have one! We have a "road conditions" map that can be used to report anything at a specific place in Marlboro. http://patch.com/A-whFZ

Interesting was not aware but does it include a place to report spots where "our police" are trying to catch us?

Pat--you can report anything, just click on the spot on the map and write a description for what you are reporting. Let me know if that doesn't work!
