POLL: Does Costco Need More Fuel Pumps?
The wholesale warehouse was approved by the Planning Board to add more pumps to its Morganville location.
Costco was approved last week to add more fuel pumps to its Morganville location on Rt. 9, a step to improve traffic flow from the highway and into the wholesale warehouse parking lot.
Representatives proposed adding two more fuel stations, a move the Marlboro Planning Board approved last week as a "good first step."
The board and Costco representatives agreed that the current traffic pattern in the parking lot and the volume of cars is pushing customers out into a line in the Rt. 9 bus lane.
Although there is another entrance to Costco from Texas Road, out-of-town shoppers may not be savvy to the shortcut, see the line into the parking lot, and decide to shop elsewhere.
“Quite honestly, if I can’t get off of Rt. 9, I’m not going to Costco,” Josh Pollak, Planning Board member said.
Tell us: Are two more pumps the answer to the traffic problem?

That shopping center has come a long way. We used to have a movie theater and now we have more gasoline pumps and soon more billboards. Our town has made great strides to make itself resemble Route 1 in Edison. Such a shame, but then again its ok because its not where the mcmansions are located or where our elected officials reside.

Do you live on Rt9? It is a commercial zoned state highway! What do you expect? The change in the billboard law should pretty much stop any new ones that didn't apply prior to the change.

Tom. the billboard law was passed so that all the garbage would be tossed at route 9. Councilman Larocca was very vocal that billboards not be built near his home on Route 79 so they concocted a story that it would be distracting to Marlboro HS students (as if playing with their phones, radios, and gadgets in daddy's BMW wasn't enough of a distraction).

If Costco continues to charge the same as surrounding gas stations, there won't be a need for expanded service. This morning they were charging $3.33 a gallon for regular, the same as surrounding stations. Why wait on a line for the same price??

I understand, I have one..But 3% of a $50 fill-up is $1.50... Not worth waiting on a long line for..
