Colts Neck Teens Compete in Skate and Surf Music Performance

First to Friday is vying for the chance to play a set at the Skate and Surf Festival in Freehold this year.

Five New Jersey teens will be showcasing their musical talent as they compete for an opportunity to perform at the 2013 Skate and Surf Festival.   On April 7, First to Friday will take the stage at Encore Event Center for the Regional Finals of the BREAK contest. At stake is a performance slot during the Skate and Surf Festival, a two-day concert that is returning from an eight-year hiatus. First to Friday, formally known as Reality Check, features a new sound and songs to go with their new name. Last year, the group competed in the BREAK contest and won a performance slot for Bamboozle; they were only 14-years-old. “When we competed for a Bamboozle spot last year we had only performed five or six shows together,” explained First to Friday…

Step into 'A Carnival of Books' at County Library's Children's Book Fair

The Monmouth County Library's Children's Book Fair will be held on Saturday, March 16.

If you want your child to dive into reading and become more excited about books, be sure to take them to a place that will be making reading as fun as the circus! The Monmouth County Library is holding their 2013 Children’s Book Fair on Saturday, March 16 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Monmouth County Library Headquarters in Manalapan Township and this year their theme is “Carnival of Books”. Watch a dog perform circus tricks, a one man circus juggle and perform magic, and learn to walk a tightrope! Oh, and there will also be some books, movies, and raffle prizes. Crafters Wanted for Annual County Spring Craft Show

Crafters can display original work at the April 27 show.

The Monmouth County Parks System is inviting local crafters to join the Spring Craft Show on April 27. Crafters can display original work only, no kit work or commercially purchased merchandise. Applicants are asked to submit three photographs of their work. The cost is $25 per 10’x10’ space. Interested crafters can download an application at monmouthcountyparks.com or call (732) 542-1642.  The show also includes the Annual Plant Swap at the Tatum Park Red Hill Road Activity Center in Middletown.
