Marlboro Honors Victims Of Sept. 11 As A Community

Marlboro Township lost 14 residents on Sept. 11, 2001. Each year, the township gathers as one to pay tribute.

Marlboro's annual Sept. 11 ceremony honors the 14 residents who lost their lives in 2001 on that fateful day, and the thousands of other lives lost as well.

This year, residents gathered to pay tribute to loved ones in the shadow of the township's memorial, which holds a steal beam from the World Trade Center between two towers.

The base of the memorial holds American flags, for each Marlboro resident lost, one to honor all victims of the attack, for first responders and firefighters and for soldiers overseas.

The event is led by Councilman Lt. Col. Jeff Cantor, with remarks by Mayor Jon Hornik. A moment of silence at 8:46, the time the first plane struck the first tower, is honored.
