There are never concrete answers to the question "why" after a tragedy like the shooting of an elementary school in Newtown, CT.

28 people died on Friday, Dec. 14 in an elementary school filled with hundreds of children in grades 1 through 4 and their teachers, administrators and staff.

What we can do, as a nation, is become a support system for everyone impacted and devastated.

While it is hard to sit back and watch news coverage of such a tragic story, it is simple to offer your words of kindness. Our Connecticut Patch team has covered the tragedy tirelessly, as they watch their communities suffer. As they do their jobs and continue to keep their residents informed, we'd like to offer everyone in Newton our sincere support and love.

If you are looking for ways to donate to affected families, please visit the Newtown Patch site for an updated list of ways to do so.

Leave your thoughts and kinds words here in our comments section, and we will send this article to Newtown Patch as a simple gesture from Marlboro and Colts Neck to everyone suffering.

Hi - I spent most of today writing an impassioned plea for gun control, and sent it to the President, and my local senator and representatives. I am praying for you all - but also trying to do something concrete. I have posted my letter as well as links to our local legislature and the White House, and hope that people rise up and that your loss will not be in vain. I am heartbroken for you as a mom and as a teacher. I am so sorry.
