Marlboro Native Brings Star Power and Cameras to the Township

Cameras have been spotted at local landmarks around Monmouth County.

If you've noticed a film crew and some familiar faces around Marlboro Township, you aren't going crazy. Marlboro is now the setting for a new film, Running on Empty, written and directed by native Joseph Pernice.

Cameras have been spotted at local landmarks around Monmouth County such as Bella Vista Country Club, Marlboro High School, Main Street in Freehold and Lake Topanemus Park. The film even features Sopranos star Steve Schirripa.

The story follows Junior, played by All My Children star Eric Nelsen, in his story from local athletic fame to a drug-addicted lifestyle. Junior holds high school track records that, until now, no one has been able to beat.

And while Junior chooses to live with his parents after college and feed his addiction, college graduate Jenny, played by Gossip Girl and Criminal Minds star Courtney Baxter, is set out to break Junior's record in the town's invitational half-marathon. That is, until Junior accidentally backs his car into her and breaks her ankle.

The relationship between the two blossoms from there, as Jenny tries to do what no one else was able to; get Junior back on the track.

Marlboro native Josh Flitter plays Charlie in the movie, and is best known for his role next to Robin Williams in License to Wed

According to IMDB, the film should be released fall of next year.
