Update: Hobby Lobby will test selling Jewish Holiday items in certain markets in the Northeast, and continues to investigate whether an employee uttered a perceived anti-semitic answer to a customer in Marlboro Township.
Find that story here.

MARLBORO, NJ--A recent local blog post has sparked an internal investigation within Hobby Lobby's company.

The post, written by Ken Berwitz, author of the political book Hopelessly Partisan, pointed to a conversation in which a Hobby Lobby employee was allegedly asked why the craft store doesn't carry Jewish holiday decorations. The employee allegedly answered, "We don't cater to you people."

When Berwitz looked into the issue himself, he claims the answer from Hobby Lobby's Marlboro Township store, "Because Mr. [David] Green is the owner of the company, he's a Christian, and those are his values."

Hobby Lobby representative Vincent Parker initially answered Patch with a brief statement, saying the store is working with buyers and looking into including Jewish holiday decorations.

In an email to Mayor Jon Hornik, Parker said the company is, in fact, investigating the alleged comments.

"Alleged comments made by employees are currently being investigated and will be addressed accordingly. These comments are in no way indicative of Hobby Lobby culture, the owners and the operators," Parker said. "Marlboro is a great city and has wonderful people and we are blessed to be apart the community."

Kaitlyn-Personally I can't believe that you continue to let these lunatics (not the previous poster) make disparaging remarks about Jews. It's undignified and unprofessional. Don't you police this section of the Patch?
Kaitlyn Anness October 09, 2013 at 04:18 PM
@Marlboro Mann we do try to keep tabs on the comments but I can't sit here and look at one article all day. You're always welcome to email me if you feel someone is violating our Terms of Use, kaitlyn.anness@patch.com

I enjoy reading your comments Merry Christmas!
Coffeenut October 09, 2013 at 04:51 PM
I've been sitting back reading the back and forth and you are the only one who makes actual sense here. Appears that Marlboro Mann is a bit "off". I just read that he cried to the patch. LOL! You go girl!

I agree Manalapan Resident

There are so many good Jewish people around here. But some of the ones on here whose comments I've been reading are shameful. They feel like they need to be coddled and catered to. A few comments up, a person called Marlboro Man complained to the editor of the patch. Crying why she lets people talk to him that way. Ridiculous. Those are the people we DON'T cater to because of their attitudes. Those are the ones who get left out and left behind. It's not an anti-semitic thing. It's a hatred for small minded people who think they are above everyone. And in reality they are very well below everyone because of how they treat people.

Thank you Manalapan Resident for your thoughtful in depth analysis of "Jewish guilt". I know you've dedicated your life analyzing what's wrong with religions other than your own. As for you Coffeenut, you approve of Jews being called stooges? If so, you are as bad as the individuals who wrote it.
Manalapan Resident October 09, 2013 at 08:08 PM
I agree Coffeenut. I too saw what Marlboro Mann posted Looks like Marlboro Mann can dish it out , but he can't take it Shame on you Marlboro Mann. I think most people here would love to know who you really are. Not sure why you haven't been ban from here yet.
Marlboro Mann October 09, 2013 at 08:14 PM
Resident for the same reason you don't reveal your name. I don't need lunatics visiting my house because my opinion differs from theirs. At least I limit my comments to those I believe are misinformed. At no time have I attacked another religion or a class of people. Unfortunately to most people, Jews as a whole are fair game.
Coffeenut October 09, 2013 at 08:15 PM
Ok I guess I will post another comment. No Marlboro Mann, I do not agree with that. However, I have read all the past comments and see that YOU were the one who called some people on here stooges and one person defended herself and educated you that the three stooges were all Jewish. As I do not agree with the stooge comment reference to Jews, I also do not agree with all the names and nasty things you have said to others on here. Reading all the comments you appear to be the biggest offender beyond a doubt. You are offensive and I agree with Manalapan Resident as to how you have not been banned yet.
Coffeenut October 09, 2013 at 08:17 PM
I joined this thing late in the game, but if I notice you speaking to people the way you have been, I will surely report you.
Coffeenut October 09, 2013 at 08:38 PM
LMAO! Good point MR! They could be one in the same! He does get extremely defensive. Almost like he knows what has been said to him is all the truth and he just can't take it. I live here and grew up here. I have had many Jewish friends. Been in Jewish wedding and attended Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. I'm so far removed from anti-semitism as can be. But people like this Marlboro Mann truly give Jews a bad name. He is the typical stereotype of a Jew. I'm just thankful the people I know of Jewish faith are light years away from him. It's gross.

So let me get this straight: Local blogger hears from a friend (of a friend?) that a floor person in the new Hobby Lobby (once the two year decrepit Pathmark), when asked sometime in September, "why do you not carry Hanukah items", was answered "we do not cater to your kind". Story gets picked up from Patch, Politico, etc... It goes viral. Mayor of Marlboro weighs in. Not sure why. Then the local blogger changes the story to the complaint being about Hobby Lobby not selling bar-mitzvah cards and not about Hanukah decorations. More national news picks up on the story, but for some reason, they do not notice the bloggers update and misreport it according to the original complaint. Then people on Patch fight for a week. Over some alleged statement by an alleged employee that was never named or identified and other personal attacks. I think we are done here. Let's move on past this nonsense.
Jersey Girl October 10, 2013 at 07:38 PM
@ Hank Nope, you have it all wrong. Do your homework, there have been numerous articles on highly respected sources about Hobby Lobby's limited "views". Look at Newsweek, Huffington Post, and a little newspaper known as the New York Times.
Jersey Girl October 10, 2013 at 07:38 PM
@ Merry Christmas Thank you and Happy Hanukkah.

Merry Christmas to All, an to All a Good Night !!
Jackie Brown October 12, 2013 at 09:09 PM
Merry Christmas, please post your Christmas song again, I told my sister she is begging to read the lyrics, never laughed so hard !
Kaitlyn Anness October 12, 2013 at 10:50 PM
@Jackie the song is by Adam Sandler, you can look it up. The lyrics were posted as an attack and were deleted because of the language surrounding the lyrics posted by the user.
Jersey Girl October 13, 2013 at 09:45 AM
@ Shannon Your dear post must have taken quite a while to write. How cute (and naive) that you believe "..... a few letters written to the main office of HL this situation would have not been ridiculously blown out of proportion ......" Perhaps you also believe that a few letters to the Arabs would have stopped the 6 day war? Interesting that those who have never experienced prejudice feel they have insight into it.
Merry Christmas October 13, 2013 at 10:25 AM
@Jackie Brown- The song wasn't a Christmas song, it's a Hanukkah song by Adam Sandler who is Jewish. Glad you enjoyed it , most people get a laugh out of it. It wasn't posted as an attack like Kaitlyn Anness assumed, it was put on for a laugh it's the only Hanukkah song I know and I felt like singing. I can post one of my Christmas songs if you like .. how about like Jingle bells or rocking around the Christmas tree..not funny like the Hanukkah song. Oh wait I just thought of one, it's not a traditional Christmas song..but you might recall this one..Grandma got run over by a reindeer is pretty funny..LOL Also if you want to hear another funny one from Adam Sandler ..google his Thanksgiving song. :)
Merry Christmas October 13, 2013 at 10:41 AM
@Kaitlyn Anness, Thank you for answering Jackie's question. Sorry I'm not on that often to answer what's addressed to me. Kaitlyn I can repost the song if you like, just to show you and others reading there was no offensive language in the song at all.
Amber Wright October 13, 2013 at 01:20 PM
I think Merry Christmas' assertion they are not on that often is absurd. They have kept this thread going with a very anti-Semitic slant and rude comments to many. M C really should go peruse Hobby Lobby in search of one.
Manalapan Resident October 13, 2013 at 01:57 PM
@Amber, you couldn't be more wrong in "OVER" 1500 posts that you have made on the patch. You're such a preacher trying to sound educated when in fact all you do is copy and paste, you need a life off line, your comments here are empty and worthless. Please find it in your heart to stop the hate. I'm not Christian, but I find some of what others & Merry Christmas say as true regarding Hobby Lobby, as for the Adam Sandler songs.. one must have a sense of humor as I see you do not.(I like Adam Sandler & his songs) I think after over 1500 posts we can surely say you keep all the threads going more then any name on the Patch .. if you work for the patch..then It makes sense..if you don't ..please stay in school. BTW-I did shop at the Hobby Lobby on Friday..I purchased a beautiful vase for my Jewish Friend, that she loved so very much .

CAN WE BE DONE WITH THIS TOPIC ALREADY????? It's really not worth all the email updates.
Merry Christmas October 17, 2013 at 02:12 PM
@Marlboro Mann ..did you mean "QUISLING" learn to spell. Just because someone that is Jewish doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they are quisling..all your posts suggest such hypocrisy..please stop making a fool of yourself. Jewish people are shopping at Hobby Lobby.. I know that for a fact..so get over yourself please!
Coffeenut October 17, 2013 at 02:14 PM
Yes Marlboro Mann/Guy get over it and yourself. If people don't like you just deal with it. You certainly aren't scoring any points with anyone with your attitude and comments here.
