Bohnyak's staff is comprised almost entirely of her former students, some of which she used to teach out of her home in Marlboro.

Bohnyak said her studio goes beyond teaching brush strokes, and is one of the few art schools around that incorporates art history for children. Classes teach children about famous artists, and how to mimic those artists in their own ways.

"We want them to really use their imagination," Bohnyak said.

Bohnyak and her staff also offer birthday parties, and ladies nights out. The seasoned artist said ideas are chosen in advance by the children or adults, and The Artisan Studio will produce a creative and doable art project everyone can take home.

"We do mosaics, origami, painting. We really offer a wide variety of projects," Bohnyak said. "About 6 months ago, one little girl wanted everyone to make a Flamingo Princess, so we created a project for her."

The studio also teaches multicultural art, including origami, which beautifully hangs from almost every corner of the ceilings. Bohnyak said not only is it important to teach art from all over the world, but it is important to create projects simple enough for children to understand the concept and make their own.

"With everything that is going on in the world, it's nice for the children to learn about art from around the world and appreciate it."
