Marlboro TV Company Accused of Bad Business Practices on ABC Show

Steve's Quality TV Repair allegedly charged a woman hundreds of dollars for a problem that could be fixed with a remote.

Steve's Quality TV Repair, based in Morganville, got a little more than they bargained for when called to an appointment with a local senior citizen.

ABC's show The Lookout looking into the TV repair business, which makes house calls and according to its website can repair all the latest TV's.

Producers of the show made a call to the business, which offers a 10 percent discount to senior citizens, and asked for a repairman to come fix the color on the television. A Panasonic expert used the remote to dull the color, a problem he said should take just minutes to fix, according to the show.

But the repairman, Rich, told his elderly client she needed a new digital board, which would cost $400 plus a deposit and require maintenance in their Amboy Road shop.

The bureau lists Barry Lack as the company owner. Attempts to contact the owners of Steve's Quality Repair were not returned.

The Marlboro Township based company has an F rating according to the Better Business Bureau, with a total of 30 registered complaints. Complaints range from advertising and sales issues to problems with the service.
