Shop Locally in Marlboro and Colts Neck on Small Business Saturday on Nov. 24

Start your holiday shopping at locally owned stores during Small Business Saturday.

Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving and one day after Black Friday. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on.

American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked. With retailers buzzing around the holidays, it is important to support local small businesses that rely on their neighbors in order to continue prospering and building the local economy in Marlboro and Colts Neck.

Marlboro Township launched Shop Marlboro in 2008. Run by the Economic Development Committee, the program features a tax rewards program which acts as an incentive for residents to keep their money local while putting an immediate dent into their property tax bills.

“By keeping their purchasing dollars for goods and services in Marlboro, residents are helping to directly improve Marlboro’s economic vitality, solidify its tax base, create new jobs, and foster a renewed sense of community and shared commitment," said Deputy Mayor Larry Rosen, Chairmen of the EDC.

"In return, small businesses on the receiving end of a long-term sustained commitment by the municipality and its residents are more apt to be good corporate citizens, and more eager to support our community at various events and during times of need. This synergistic relationship is win/win for all of the stakeholders.”
