Figuera said one of the biggest tips is not to leave flowers in the cold. Door-to-door flower delivery from larger companies could mean roses on your doorstep for hours.

"We only deal with the largest sizes and the best grades of flowers, so that's what makes the difference between your grocery store $29 or $19, theirs aren't typically the best grade."
The Greenhouse Gallery also offers a variety of tropical flowers, which Figuera said will last much longer, especially with the heat in houses during the winter.
