Find Out What They Really Ate At The First Thanksgiving

On Wednesday night, Atlantic Highlands historian Glenn LeBoeuf gives a talk on what the first Thanksgiving was really like.

Historian Glenn LeBoeuf is going to take a stab at the annual Thanksgiving turkey feast tradition, and tell it like it really was.

The Atlantic Highlands professional storyteller will give an hourlong slide presentation at the Eastern branch of the Monmouth County Library in Shrewsbury Wednesday night, and describe the kind of fare the Plymouth pilgrims and the native Americans most likely enjoyed together.

"There would not have been anything with sugar -- no cranberry sauces that were sweetened or pumpkin pie," said LeBoeuf. "They may have eaten eagles or hawks. Certain nuts and berries, clams and oysters, some corn."

LeBoeuf also explains how the Thanksgiving holiday was established in America.

"The Real History of Thanksgiving" will be presented at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13. More information at this link.
