Exactly a month from Friday I will be crossing the stage in Kingston, Rhode Island for my undergraduate college graduation. Adorned in the traditional cap and gown, I, like the hundreds of thousands of college graduates this year, will join the proverbial "real world". I will also be returning home to lovely Marlboro, New Jersey.
I'm not going to lie, I'm excited for my life to begin! But the idea of becoming an actual adult is nothing short of daunting.
How long will it take me to find a full-time job and start a career? Will my public relations internship for the summer transcend into a solid, well-paying job? How long will my parents let me live with them, or more importantly, how long will I want to live with them? Will I remain close with my friends from Rhode Island, or will those college bonds fade?
Am I alone in this thinking, or does this happen to everyone?
How did you handle college graduation? How are you handling it?
Personally, I do not think you will have ANY issues finding a job after college. You have great experiences with applicable internships behind you, and have more to offer to a job than a lot of other people in your field coming out of college. Whether or not you like the co. is what it ultimately comes down to, but always apply to a co. that you worked with before and enjoyed working with. More than likely, if you left on good standings they will want you back. The real world if very deceiving and very overwhelming but you just have to live the way that is best for you. As long as you stay positive and learn as much as you can from every experience that you have, you will have no problems. Take advantage of these last couple of weeks, you are going to miss them! -Shell
