Working late, I tend to pass the most amazing restaurants, shops and stores in the business of course when they are closed to the public. Sometimes going early into work doesn't hurt. For years I have passed Niki Maccanico's Homemade Ice Cream Shop which is located on 1301 Main St. in Belmar, and wondered how delicious those cones must taste.
Fortunately for me, they are open late during the season til 11 p.m. serving up the best homemade ice cream in town. A frozen treat for the visitors or locals after a long day of work, sandy trip to the beach or just an adventure with the kids Maccanico's Ice Cream is fun for everyone.
I treated myself to an amazing Soft serve twist with extra sprinkles just the way I love my ice cream. Darrin, the current running manager/owner was helpful and very enthusiastic about his flavors that were available. After chatting about our favorites I'd have to say I'll be back to try'em all at some point.
Bragging about his family secrets, I enjoyed every last drop of the soft serve before another long night on the job. Ice cream is perfect on a hot night and this hit the spot. I will be back to sample some of the Peanut Butter Chocolate flavor next time I'm in town for sure. Whether you are visiting or a townie you should make a stop at Niki Maccanico's Ice Cream for you will be a regular after the first taste!
