Marlboro Teen Asks Residents To Keep 'Smiling On'

Kintan Simpat is asking Marlboro residents to do something simple: pass on a smile and brighten someone's day.

Kintan Simpat came before the Marlboro Town Council with a big smile and a simple suggestion: brighten the day, of anyone.

When was struck with two tragic suicides this year, Simpat said it dawned on him how important spreading happiness can be to an individual.

"Someone should speak out, do something to make sure people are happy," he said.

And so, Simpat began to pass on his smile. A simple thought, smile at everyone you see, pass on happiness, do good. Through it all, "Smiling On" was born.

Simpat approached Town Council on Thursday, looking to promote his idea and create an annual Smiling On Day. Simpat said he would eventually like Smiling On to surround charitable events, such as a blood drive.

Council President Jeff Cantor offered Simpat a spot in the tent at this year. But Cantor wondered, he said, how Simpat deals with encountering "grumpy" people.

Simpat said, "I can make anyone smile."
