Obituary: Helen Herndon Adler

Helen Herndon Adler, 73, of Colts Neck, died Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Helen Herndon Adler, 73, of Colts Neck, went to be with her loving Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank with her devoted husband by her side. 

Helen was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth Bowden Herndon and Jesse M. Herndon, Jr. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert W, Sr.; her son Robert W., Jr. and wife Sherri Murray Adler of Rumson; her most cherished granddaughter Ashley Victoria Adler of Rumson; her son, Richard T. and wife Jennifer Embler of Belford; her brother Jesse M. “Bud” Herndon, III and his wife Debbie Herndon of Md.; her sister-in-law Linda Williams Lambert and her husband James Lambert; her aunt Ann Herndon; several nieces and nephews as well as her loyal friends. 

She was a member of The Presbyterian Church at Shrewsbury where she was active in the choir and previously the moderator of the Presbyterian Women's Association. Helen volunteered for many years at the Parker Clinic in Red Bank and previously for the Red Cross in Massachusetts. Helen was previously a Christian Education Director at the Old First Church in Middletown. She was the co-owner with her husband Robert W. Adler, Sr. of the Riley Walker Agency, Inc. in Colts Neck. She loved being with her family, traveling with her husband and making needlepoint projects for her loved ones. Visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. A funeral service was celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at The Presbyterian Church at Shrewsbury, 352 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury.
