UPDATE: Five Cars Involved in Rt. 79 Accident in Marlboro

The State created this safety problem, WHY? they didn't continue the 4 lanes over RTE 18 all the way to Ryan road is a engineeing blunder, I wish the person in charge of the nightmare he created could be held resposeable and fired for such a mistake, OH ? I forgot Its New Jersey , its the way they do projects, we will come back in 10 years and complete that section!! at three times the cost!! Eaton town circele at #35-#36 is another example of their blundering engineeing department, That should have had an over pass done years ago like US Rte #1 North Brunswick ans State Rte #130. No they keep spending Millions on their same mistakes. and it gets no better at 35-36 circle. I guess it may be Called job security, do it right the first time , they won't need us??

Not in total agreement with you on this. Although it might have been a good idea to continue the extra lane, Route 79 is a 2 lane road. Blame can be put on drivers who I constantly see trying to race around and get ahead of other drivers only to be stopped by traffic ahead and the light at Ryan Road as well as the traffic coming off Route 18. Of course the other thing that has occurred in the area in the past 20 years is the over-development all over contributing to the additional traffic.

the real question is.why di accidents happen? could it be people. better hi way driving better road education,more traffic tickets. hit the drivers where it hurts, in the wallet.results less accidents lower insurance rates for all and more sleep for the 1st aid personal.. turn the other cheek and be kinder on the road. ya///////////

Traffic jams and traffic accidents are usually caused by drivers who don't keep their distance from each other , don't know how to do an alternate merge, and are not courteous at all. 5 cars? 4 obviously weren't thinking about their driving.

How ironic that our city fathers are dumping billboards along route 9 but banned them from Route 79 citing that it would be a distraction and cause accidents. Other than protecting Larocca's property value, what's the excuse now?

Road design is a serious NJ issue. With the most municipalities per capital (more municipalities than California), the way intersections are treated varies from town to town. This increases confusion and causes accidents. If a lane ended and/or there was an alternate merge, did any signage indicate this?
NJ municipal/county roads/streets officials would be wise to follow and use the guides from The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials when updating/fixing roads/streets.
