A head-on collision on Route 34 in Marlboro claimed the life of Michael Myers, 29 of Cliffwood Beach on Wednesday night, according to Marlboro Police Captain Steve Mennona. Myers was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said who remains in critical condition at Robertwood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick.
Marlboro and Holmdel Police closed the roadway going both directions in the area, and detours were set up by the Department of Transportation to divert traffic away from the scene of the crash. The road was re-opened at 1:45 a.m.
Responding to the scene was Marlboro Police and Morganville First Aid, The Holmdel Police Department, Holmdel First Aid, Holmdel Fire Company #1 and Holmdel Fire and Rescue Co. #2.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
