say an underage Colts Neck man was under the influence when he allegedly eluded an officer and crashed his vehicle early Friday morning.
Holmdel Patrolman Christopher Cherney had stopped to interview 20-year-old Vincenzo F. Brando after finding his appearance near St. Mina’s Coptic Church on Route 34 at 3:28 a.m. suspicious, according to a police department press release. During the course of the interview, Brando allegedly fled the area in his vehicle, traveling southbound on Route 34 toward Colts Neck. Police say Brando drove several miles before eventually crashing his vehicle into a wooded area of Boundary Road in Colts Neck.
Brando sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported by the Colts Neck First Aid Squad to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for further evaluation.
Brando was charged with eluding a police officer, obstruction, possession of alcohol underage, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated, and various motor vehicle violations, according to the police department press release. His bail was set at $27,500.
