Daniel Velba, 40, of Morganville had a suspended license and several DWI charges before causing the fatal crash in Freehold last Saturday, according to records obtained by NJ.com.

Velba was killed on Friday night after police said he ran a red light in Freehold.  Two others were hospitalized after the 11 p.m. crash that killed Daniel Velva, 40, according to nj.com. Velva's Sebring collided with a 2007 Chrysler at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 79.

According to Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Charlie Webster, Velva's vehicle was on fire when police arrived on scene.

Two Middletown residents, John Johnson Jr., 50, and Colleen Coppa, 52, were in the Chrysler and taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, NJ.com reported.

Records obtained by NJ.com from the Motor Vehicle Commission show Velba's driving privileges had an indefinite suspension and had been suspended four times since 1994. The records indicate Velba also had 19 violations and 43 suspensions, according to NJ.com.

Police determined Velva did run a red light, but the accident investigation remains open. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 800-533-7443.
