LaRocca Runs for County Democratic Chair

Marlboro Councilman Frank LaRocca is running against Long Branch's Vin Gopal for the Monmouth County Democratic Chair position.

Marlboro Councilman Frank LaRocca has thrown his hat into the ring for the Monmouth County Democratic Chair position.

The position will become vacant in June, when current chairman Vic Scudiery is set to retire. LaRocca is running against Long Branch Democrat Vin Gopal, who had an unsuccessful run for the state legislature last year.

In his formal announcement, LaRocca said, “The accomplishments of the local Democrats in a short period of time prove that, with the right objectives and determined leadership, we can be successful during difficult times. Chairman Scudiery brought unsurpassed integrity to the county party and I intend to build on that legacy.”

LaRocca is backed in the party by Marlboro Mayor Jon Hornik, Vincent Solomeno, President of the Bayshore Democratic Club, former Wall Township Mayor John Devlin, Red Bank Councilman Michael DuPont and Long-time Democratic State Committeeman Robert Salman.

“Frank has been an outstanding leader for our party and will make an outstanding county chairman,” said Hornik. “Frank will lead the party for all of the right reasons. He has the experience and a demonstrated record of success that is unequaled.”

Gopal announced this week he is backed by a long list of democratic chairs and local elected officials, as reported on Politicker NJ.

In his formal letter to the committee, LaRocca recalled previous political scandals in Marlboro as well as his record with the current council and mayor.

"Through grassroots efforts, hard work, and effective fundraising, we won all twenty eight districts in our first election, ousting the entrenched Republicans. This November, we defeated our Republican challengers by a two to one margin and today, Marlboro is solidly Democratic," LaRocca said.

LaRocca was raised in Manalapan and received a degree from William Paterson University before moving to Belmar and receiving a law degree from Pace University. The councilman has lived in Marlboro since 2000.

LaRocca is a founding member of the law firm LaRocca Hornik Rosen
Greenberg & Blaha PC, where he said he resides as a Top 100 lawyer ranked by his peers.

LaRocca is on his second term as a Marlboro councilman, and previously served as Council President.

"I believe in working as part of a team and my record in Marlboro demonstrates my commitment to listening to all voices and making informed, responsible decisions."
