Marlboro and Colts Neck Named Tree Cities by Arbor Day Foundation

Colts Neck has been a Tree city for 18 years, Marlboro Township for 4 years.

Marlboro and Colts Neck have been named Tree Cities by the Arbor Day Foundation, an honor both townships have become accustomed to over the years.

There are 180 Tree Cities in New Jersey, including Freehold Township, Freehold Borough and Manalapan.

Marlboro is , while Colts Neck has been a designated Tree City for 18 years.

There are four standards to becoming a Tree City. The town must have a Tree Board of Department, a tree care ordinance, a community forestry program with a budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance or proclamation.

Both Marlboro and Colts Neck have active Shade Tree Committees, responsible for maintaining and growing Township-owned conservation and/or landscape easements.
