Tuesday: Marlboro Board of Education Meeting

The board is meeting at 8 p.m. in the Administration Building.

The Marlboro Township K-8 Board of Education is meeting tonight at 8 p.m. in the Administration Building.

According to the meeting agenda, the board is set to discuss the initial planning of the superintendent search, then will enter executive session to discuss personnel matters.

Changes to the Marlboro K-8 school-year calendar as a result of Hurricane Sandy are as follows:

  • 1/21 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) - Full day session
  • 2/15 and 2/18 (President's Day) - Full day sessions
  • 4/1 (Spring recess) - Full day session

The district has also used its three allotted snow days during the state of emergency caused by the hurricane and nor'easter.

I hope people attend this public meeting. Staffers with teens (mine are younger) have told me that not only have breaks been eliminated, but the major issue is still having enough classroom time for summer-school sessions. I've been heartened to hear how many people attend local governance meetings, and participate in their communities.
