Sophia and Jacob Top Baby Names Again in 2012

It's the fourteenth consecutive year for Jacob.

It's another banner year for the Jacobs and Sophias in the country, as both names carry on consecutive number one spots on the most popular baby names list. Jacob has topped the list for 14 years, while Sophia enters the second year at number one. According to the Social Security Administration, the only new names on the list are Elizabeth and Liam, which replaced last year's Chloe and Daniel. This marks the first year on the list for Liam, which the SSA said may be due to the rising popularity of actor Liam Neeson. For boys, the fastest rising name was Major.  Acting Commissioner Colvin said, “I have no doubt …

The state urges customers to consult the database before buying a car

The State Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) and Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA) are urging all customers to consult their database of flood and salvage-titled vehicles before purchasing a car. That database now provides information on 31,000 such vehicles, the State MVC announced on Wednesday. It isn't illegal to sell vehicles with flood or salvaged titles. However, there are specific requirements that ensure potential purchasers are aware of the status of such vehicles, according to the MVC. “Damage sustained by vehicles must be disclosed to prospective buyers,” Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said. “We will hold car dealers accountable for violating our Consumer Fraud Act if they fail to make such disclosures.” The database was …

Ethics Charges Filed Against Marlboro Board of Ed Vice President

Josh Pollak filed a complaint against Victoria Dean with the State Department of Education on April 23.

The NJ School Ethics Commission has officially acknowledged the receipt of ethic charges filed against Board Vice President Victoria Dean, according to complaint documents. The complaint was submitted by Marlboro resident and Planning Board member Josh Pollak who claims Dean donated an iPad at a February Knights of Columbus fundraiser which was allegedly labeled "Marlboro Republican Club, Victoria Dean, Vice President of Marlboro School Board." Pollak alleges Dean used a political standing in conjunction with her position on the board, which would violate local and state school board ethics standards. "I have reviewed the Ethics complaint that was filed against me and it is completely frivolous and politically motivated," Dean said in a …

Mr. Lern. Before I continue to challenge this whole nonsense raised by Mr. Pollak, I do have one initial question for you... Are you questioning or insinuating that the current board president would enter a false statement into the record? Thank you for your response.   more ›
