Active Colts Neck Environmentalist Gisela Anderl Dies at 84

After the first year in Eatontown, where their third child was born, Gisela and her husband moved to and stayed in Colts Neck.

Gisela T. (Dworschak) Anderl, 84, of Colts Neck, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 after a long, hard battle against lung cancer. Gisela was born in Berndorf, Austria. After the death of her father, she took over the management of her parent's general store until it was time to start her own family. When her husband accepted a position in the U.S. in 1957, they immigrated to this country with their two small children. After the first year in Eatontown, where their third child was born, they moved to and stayed in Colts Neck. Gisela was active in scouting and in environmental matters. Her enduring and most satisfying pursuit was horticulture, raising an abundance of plants and flowers in her greenhouse. Gisela was predeceased by her …

Sal Salvaggio, Formerly of Marlboro, Dies at 85

He was born and raised in Brooklyn and had raised his family in Marlboro before retiring in Manchester Twp., then coming to Freehold in 2007.

Rosario “Sal” Salvaggio, 85, of Freehold passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013. He was born and raised in Brooklyn and had raised his family in Marlboro before retiring in Manchester Twp., then coming to Freehold in 2007. Sal was a US Army Combat Veteran serving in the Korean War and retired as the purchasing agent for Moore & McCormack Lines in Brooklyn after 38 years in 1986. He was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Twp. Sal was predeceased by his wife, Josie; brother, John; and sisters, Vita and Angie. 63-Year Resident George Ostrowski Dies at Age 90

Mr. Ostrowski was born in Freehold and resided in Marlboro for the last 63 years.

George A. Ostrowski, 90, of Marlboro Township, returned to God's arms on Wednesday morning, May 8, 2013, at his home after a 4 year courageous battle with metastatic colon cancer. Mr. Ostrowski was born in Freehold and resided in Marlboro for the last 63 years. Mr. Ostrowski served with the U.S. Army during WWII in the South Pacific for 4 years. After being discharged from the Army, he became a Union Carpenter for Local No. 2250, Red Bank. With the skills he learned as a carpenter, he was able to build his own house with help from a few paid family and friends. ith his wife, Alice, they owned and operated Dutch Lane Kennels for many years. George Kaschak, St. Mary's Member and Veteran, Dies at 89

George was employed for over twenty-five years as a Physicist and an Electronic Engineer for the United States Government/NASA.

George R. Kaschak, Sr., 89, died on Friday, May 3, 2013 at the CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. Born in Manville, son of the late John and Bertha (Zujkowski) Kaschak, he lived in Red Bank prior to moving to Colts Neck in 1964. George was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after faithfully serving his country during WWII. A Proud Alumni of Kansas State University where he earned his Master's degree, George was employed for over twenty-five years as a Physicist and an Electronic Engineer for the United States Government/NASA.  He was an active member of St. Mary's Church in Colts Neck and belonged to their Swat Team and Romeo's Group. Paul worked for 24 years in the packing facilities at Delicious Orchards.

Paul H. Baumgaertner, 49, of Colts Neck, died on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Red Bank he was a lifelong resident of Colts Neck. Paul worked for 24 years in the packing facilities at Delicious Orchards. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Freehold and the 4-H Club of Monmouth County. He was an avid New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan. Paul was predeceased by his father, Lou in 2007 and his brother Karl. She was a housekeeper at Delicious Orchards, Colts Neck until her retirement 10 years ago.

Nora E. Estelle, 79, of Toms River passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Manchester Manor Rehab Center. Nora was born in Howell and was a lifelong area resident. She was a housekeeper at Delicious Orchards, Colts Neck until her retirement 10 years ago. Nora was predeceased by two daughters, Lynn Muniz and Cathy Halpin. She is survived by two sons, Bill Estelle of Tennessee and Mike L. Alvin was a member of the Jewish Center of Hyde Park, Flatbush Park Jewish Center and Marlboro Jewish Center

Alvin Schoenfeld, 93, of Marlboro, NJ formerly of Brooklyn died Tuesday at his residence. Born in Kamentz-Litovsk, Poland he came to the US in 1938 settling in Brownsville, East Flatbush and Mill Basin, Brooklyn, NY before moving to Marlboro in 1986. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He was the co-owner of Crown Beverage Corp. and Best Health Beverages, both of Brooklyn for over 45 years, retiring in 1983. Alvin was a member of the Jewish Center of Hyde Park, Flatbush Park Jewish Center and Marlboro Jewish Center. He also was a member of the JWV of NY and NJ and the Knights of Pythias of NY and NJ. Marlboro Business Owner William Boege Dies at Age 75

Boege lived in Colts Neck for 39 years and owned two Morganville businesses.

William D. Boege, 75, of Colts Neck, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013. Born in Amityville, NY, he lived in Farmingdale, NY and then New Brunswick before moving to Colts Neck 39 years ago. Bill owned and operated A to Z Rental in Edison, Action Rental in Iselin, Rent Rite in Iselin, Appliance Rental in Morganville and Summa Ford in Morganville. Gene Young of Colts Neck Dies at 88

Gene had been living in retirement in Colts Neck after living in Lake Hiawatha.

As he would put it, Eugene (Gene) William Young "passed this veil of tears" due to complications of a recent stroke on Friday, April 5, 2013. He would have turned 88 on May 9. Gene had been living in retirement in Colts Neck, NJ. There he spent his days doing yard-work and tending his many cats, aided by his gardener Luis and his housekeeper Evonne. Gene always lived life on his own terms, and saw the world from his own unique perspective. He is remembered for his sharp wit andhearty laugh. Born 1925 on a farm in Parsippany, NJ, Gene was the second of eight children. During his career Michael worked at the Newark Star Ledger, the Newark Evening News, The Chicago Tribune Co., the New York Daily News, and the New York Times.

Michael J. Canta, 78, of Colts Neck passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, N.J.  He was born in Lyndhurst, N.J. and lived in Lodi, Brick and Lakewood before moving here in December.   Michael was a member of the Mailer’s Union Local 6, New York City for thirty years before his retirement in 1990.
