Senate OKs Jan. 11th 'Clarence Clemons Day' in NJ

One of the Jersey Shore's most iconic figures will be honored annually with "Clarence Clemons Day" each Jan. 11. The state Senate last week passed a resolution sponsored by Red Bank resident Sen. Jennifer Beck that memorializes the legendary saxophonist from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Clemons died last year at the age of 69 after suffering a stroke. “The New Jersey Shore would not be the same without the music of Bruce Spingsteen’s E- Street Band,” said Beck, a Republican legislator. “And the E-Street Band would not have been the same without the sound of a saxophone played by Clarence Clemons. We can't get the senate to stand up for the victins of Sandy but this we can do this...just trying to live up to the Jersey jokes...maybe Snookie can read the declaration. I;m sure the seniors still living with no heat will benefit with a warm fuzzy feeling.   more ›
