The wholesale warehouse was approved by the Planning Board to add more pumps to its Morganville location.
Costco was approved last week to add more fuel pumps to its Morganville location on Rt. 9, a step to improve traffic flow from the highway and into the wholesale warehouse parking lot. Representatives proposed adding two more fuel stations, a move the Marlboro Planning Board approved last week as a "good first step." The board and Costco representatives agreed that the current traffic pattern in the parking lot and the volume of cars is pushing customers out into a line in the Rt. 9 bus lane. Although there is another entrance to Costco from Texas Road, out-of-town shoppers may not be savvy to the shortcut, see the line into the parking lot, and decide to shop elsewhere. “Quite honestly, if I can’t get off of Rt. 9, I’m not going to Costco…

The Marlboro Planning Board approved a plan to add more fuel stations to Costco in Morganville.
Costco seems to have a good problem: they have too many fuel customers at their Morganville location. The wholesale warehouse opened in 2011, and Costco is now looking at the traffic pattern within its own parking lot and ways to serve more customers. Representatives proposed adding two more fuel stations, a move the Marlboro Planning Board approved last week as a "good first step." The board and Costco representatives agreed that the current traffic pattern in the parking lot and the volume of cars is pushing customers out into a line in the Rt. 9 bus lane. “Quite honestly, if I can’t get off of Rt. 9, I’m not going to Costco,” Josh Pollak, Planning Board member said. John Palus of Dyanmic Engineering in Lake Como said the plan to add …

Nevin Eisenberg said he thinks exposure to Kirkland brand dog food made his child sick, and he is taking the case to federal court.
When Nevin Eisenberg's 8-week old became ill with an infection caused by a rare strain of salmonella, he looked to the recalled Kirkland brand dog food for answers. According to MSNBC, Eisenberg has been buying the dry dog food at Costco in Morganville for months, but the brand was recalled after ties to salmonella were found in some batches. Eisenberg is now suing the food maker, Diamond Pet Food Processors and Costco, for selling the brand. The dog food contamination was discovered in April, according to MSNBC. Eisenberg's infant is now stable, after three days in the hospital, and is being watched for internal damage due to the infection. The dog food was tested by Monmouth County, returning negative for salmonella. Eisenberg's lawyers …

Parking lots at big box stores throughout the region were filling up as shoppers stocked up on supplies before Hurricane Irene strikes.
Parking lots were filling up Thursday afternoon at local supermarkets and home improvement stores as shoppers began to stock up on storm essentials as Hurricane Irene continues to track up the coast towards New Jersey. Long Branch resident Odessa Dangler walked out of the Lowe's Home Improvement store in Eatontown with two plastic gas cans but not the generator she was hoping to find. Dangler, who lost her hot water heater and washing machine in the basement of her Florence Avenue home when it filled with water during Hurricane Andrew in 1992, was not taking any chances. She was coming back later Thursday afternoon when she was told generators would be available at the store. Store manager Ismet Ekin said that store traffic was heavier …
