Preliminary Look at 2013 Marlboro Recreation Budget

The Township Council met with department heads on Feb. 12 to discuss specifics of 2013 budget proposals.

The Marlboro Recreation Department, now combined with the Swim Club as a township utility, is looking forward to a year of acclimating to online registration and maximizing current programs for Marlboro residents. As a utility in conjunction with the Swim Club, Recreation Department programs are supported by user and membership fees. "The idea is that fees raised will support the actual cost of running these programs," Business Administration Jon Capp said. Update: Marlboro Recreation Introduces Online Registration Feb. 15

Registration for recreation programs begins Feb. 15 online.

Marlboro residents will soon be able to sign up for programs such as summer camp and recreation sports with the ease of a few clicks. Marlboro Recreation is beginning its new online registration on Feb. 15 for all programs the department offers. When Ted Ernst took over as Recreation Department Director, he put getting the department online at the top of his list. "It eliminates a lot of paperwork," Ernst said. "It helps make the information more accurate and it should greatly cut down on people coming in to register." Ernst said that will allow the department to reallocate staff.  Update:  Marlboro residents can visit https://register.communitypass.net/marlboro to create an account for Recreation programs.  Please note: credit cards will …

Hurricane Sandy

Trunk-or-Treat in Marlboro Scheduled for Nov. 18

It will take place at the Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The day has finally for Marlboro Township kids. It's time to dress up and empty the pillow cases, only to fill them with delicious, sugary candy. The township has announced its first Trunk-or-Treat event will take place Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Recreation Center parking lot. This form of trick-or-treating is in place of going door-to-door in Marlboro Township. Many streets are still unsafe due to downed wires and trees, as well as hanging branches. The township is also collecting non-perishable foods (no glass containers) which will be donated to the Monmouth County Food Bank. Safety guidelines and rules:

Joe--the streets in Marlboro are still littered with broken branches, hanging power lines and hanging branches. It's not safe for kids to walk around in the dark. But if you're looking for a way to get together with your friends, there are several volunteer opportunities to help families who have lost absolutely everything.   more ›
