Poor Box Thief Previously Charged for Stealing Credit Cards

Robert Hanna, 43 of Colts Neck was charged in June after police found stolen credit cards and social security numbers.

For Robert Hanna, 43 of Colts Neck, being arrested for allegedly stealing money from church poor boxes was not the first brush with the law. Hanna was arrested in June and charged with theft of lost property, after police allegedly found credit cards, a social security card and a wholesale membership card on Hanna which belonged to a Howell woman. Nick, sorry that is confusing. He was released on a $25,000 bail for the first charge of allegedly stealing credit cards and checks. He is still in jail now for the alleged theft of a Red Bank church poor box.   more ›

Colts Neck Man Charged With Stealing From Church Poor Box. Again.

Robert Hanna of Colts Neck has been charged for allegedly stealing from churches in Red Bank and Holmdel.

Robert Hanna, 43 of Colts Neck was arrested in Red Bank this week for allegedly stealing more than $200 from the "poor box" at St. James Catholic Church at 25 Drummond Place.  This is the second time police have accused Hanna for taking money left by parishioners for the poor. In April, he was arrested for breaking into the St. Vincent de Paul Society donation box at St. Catharine's Church where police set up surveillance equipment. According to the police report, Hanna is accused of stealing from St. James Church between May and August.  Police say Hanna confessed to the Red Bank theft in a videotaped interview. Hanna is being held in Monmouth County Jail on $1,000 bail, no ten percent option.

Colts Neck Man Charged With Theft From Howell Resident

Robert Hanna of Colts Neck allegedly stole credit cards, a social security card and a wholesale membership card from a Howell resident.

Robert Hanna, 44 of Colts Neck was arrested this week and charged with theft of lost property, after police allegedly found credit cards, a social security card and a wholesale membership card on Hanna which belong to a Howell woman. The cards were reported missing on July 24, 2011 in Farmingdale Boro. County reports indicate Hanna allegedly knowingly possessed and used the cards, which also included debit cards and bank checks belonging to numerous victims. County reports also indicate Hanna is a flight rick, without a permanent address and with a record of failing to appear in court. Hanna was arrested last year as a fugitive of justice from a Pennsylvania court. Hanna is currently being held in Monmouth County Jail with a $25,000 bail …

Man Arrested for Stealing Poor Box Money From St. Catharine's in Holmdel

Police arrested Robert Hanna, 43, of Colts Neck and charged him with burglary, theft and possession of burglar tools.

In recent weeks, St. Catharine's Church staff noticed a discrepancy in the weekly cash count from the six "poor boxes" operated by the charitable St. Vincent de Paul Society, located inside the Middletown Road church. They changed the locks on the donation boxes. But the thefts continued. The church contacted Holmdel Police Dept., which set up surveillance equipment. On Easter Sunday, police say they videotaped a man breaking into the locked church. He used a device to wrestle money from the six locked boxes mounted on the walls. According to police, he spent 45 minutes working the boxes, extracting money. Because the Christian Holy Week was April 1 to April 7, the boxes were filled with donations from parishioners. Lt.
