Marlboro to Honor Victims of Sept. 11 with Annual Ceremony

The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude at 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 11.

Marlboro Township will honor victims of Sept. 11, 2001 again this year on Patriot Day.

The lives of 14 Marlboro residents were lost in the attack on the World Trade Center, and the township will again honor those residents at the Sept. 11 Memorial constructed at the Recreation Center.

The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude at 9:15 a.m.

At the base of the memorial are engraved bricks bought by residents to fund the construction and maintenance of the memorial, which individually honors the 14 Marlboro residents and holds a beam from one tower.

The township is still selling engraved paver bricks for between $100 and $500. A 4x8 brick costs $100, an 8x8 costs $200, and four 8x8 bricks cost $500.

The bricks will create a paved visitor's area leading up to and around the memorial. Donors can choose a message to be written on the paver.
