In total, the new vehicles will cost Marlboro $293.373.80.

Marlboro Township police, first and and the building department will soon have new vehicles.

Last week, the Marlboro Town Council approved the purchase of five new vehicles in a series of resolutions.. Three vehicles for the building department, one for the police department and one ambulance for emergency services.

The building department will receive two 2013 F-150 pick-up trucks for $47,076 and one 2013 Ford Explorer for $27,651.

Marlboro Township police are authorized to get a Ford F-250 valued at $26,568.80.

Police Captain Bart Lombardo said the truck will serve as a multi-purpose vehicle, for the Office of the Emergency Management and to transport firearms to training facilities.

"Unfortunately we don't have onsite training," Lombardo said.

To transport equipment such as generators, the department has been using hand-me-down vehicles that Lombardo said have become unreliable.

"Since our last hurricane, we've been using generators at traffic lights and we need a way to get those generators out to different sites. It's really filling that role as a general utility vehicle for us."

A new ambulance will cost the township $192,078. In total, the new vehicles will cost Marlboro $293.373.80.
